CASE STUDY · DIGITAL AUTHORITY
Big Fish Tours - San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
How a deliberate rebuild of digital foundations took a sport-fishing operator from eight annual bookings to fifty-four — in a single year.
8 → 54 Annual bookings · Year one · +575% | 8 years Partnership · 2016–2024
The Diagnostic
Big Fish Tours ran a genuinely strong operation — capable vessels, experienced crew, a product worth paying for. What it lacked was a digital presence that reflected any of it.
The website carried unresolved technical faults that quietly suppressed its visibility. The brand’s perceived quality online sat far below the reality on the water. And there was no content doing the work that matters most before a prospect ever makes contact: building authority, answering questions, and establishing trust.
The problem was never effort or quality of service. It was foundation.
The Approach
The engagement began with diagnosis, not decoration. Before a single new image or article, the website’s technical architecture was corrected, resolving the structural and performance issues that were costing visibility without anyone realising it.
From there, three strands of work run as one coherent strategy rather than separate projects:
Technical architecture. The site was rebuilt on a sound technical footing — fast, properly structured, and legible to both search engines and the AI systems increasingly relied on to summarise businesses.
Visual narrative. A commercial photography series captured the vessels at the standard of the experience itself. These were not stock illustrations but assets built to carry the brand’s perceived value and close the gap between how good the operation was and how good it looked online.
Authority content. A foundation of cornerstone articles and targeted long-form writing, structured to rank in search and to position Big Fish Tours as the credible reference point in its market.
Each element reinforced the others. Sound architecture made the content discoverable; the content gave the imagery context; the imagery raised the perceived value that turned attention into bookings.
The Result
Within the first year, annual bookings rose from eight to fifty-four — a 575% increase — built on organic visibility and a brand experience that finally matched the operation, not on advertising spend.
